Low Calorie Food
When starting on a low-calorie diet most probably you will want to quit after a few days. Trying to shed off the pounds is a hard process but below are 5 very useful tips that might make it easier in sticking with your planned diet by making sure that low-calorie foods are available when you get those hunger pangs.
1) Eat lots of oats. Oatmeal contains very low calories and they lower your cholesterol level so it's great for our hearts. You should eat it for breakfast together with some fresh fruits on top so you have a healthy and tasty breakfast. Or you could try and make some oatmeal cookies for snacks. Be creative.
2) Stock your refrigerator with greens. Almost all vegetables contain less or no calories at all so eat as much as you like. You can prepare salad greens for lunchtime paired with sliced roasted beef or turkey and whole wheat bread and you are good to go. Or you can make hearty vegetable soup. Don't be afraid to experiment with green vegetables. You might come up with a delightful vegetable recipe.
3) Use more herbs & spices. Prior to starting your low-calorie diet, look at your spice rack and see which herbs & spices you have available. You will be starting to eat low-fat foods therefore you will start to minimize fat use, herbs & spices will make your meal tastier and more flavorful. You must have cinnamon, cayenne powder, nutmeg, mustard seeds & powder. You should also grow herbs in your home so you have fresh herbs available anytime. Herbs like basil, rosemary, chives and thyme would be useful.
4) Replace ordinary cheeses with cottage cheese. Cottage cheese has a lot of proteins but lesser calories. It has lots of calcium too. Cottage cheese can be used in making your salads, pizzas and when you cook your meals. So start using cottage cheese rather than the regular cheese. Or try out other low-calorie cheeses to supplement the regular cheese you use.
5) Eat more beans. Beans such as chick peas and etc, are great sources of proteins so they can be a very full and satisfying meal. You should try out interesting recipes that feature beans so you learn other great ways to cook them. Make sure you have an adequate supply of dried and green beans.
It's not easy to follow a planned diet but a little creativity when cooking or preparing your meals would help you in accomplishing it.
